Sounds like Lauro is trying to preserve an effective assistance of counsel appeal.That one rates high on the laughable scale. As Chutkan noted, very few defendants have the resources at his disposal. (My appeals were always on behalf of people who couldn't afford to pay and had public defenders, so my perspective is limited, but I cannot imagine having unlimited funds at your disposal and claiming ineffective assistance. It's just bizarre.)

@Teri_Kanefield Trump fires competent counsel & lots of good firms won't deal with him. So if he forces the (good enough) lawyers he has into making stupid defenses, does that qualify?
