@obfusk "We just want respect..."If someone wants my respect, they have to earn it. I don't give it away randomly for free. And it has nothing to do with sexual orientation or operating systems.

@fuxoft @obfuska) being trans is not related to your sexual orientationb) "respect" in this context means "with a basic level of decency"c) being responsible for the graphics stacks of such a major OS should be enough to earn technical respect

@patrizia @obfuska) If being trans is not related to sexual orientation then it's also not related to operating systems. But I think there is some relation in both cases.b) If someone uses the word "respect" when they mean "with a basic level of decency" then it's very hard to establish basic communication with them.3) Whoever is responsible for Linux working correctly deserves to be treated with a basic level of decency and probably even respect. Regardless if they are trans or Irish.

@fuxoft Being a tranny is just a way of communicating to others that you don’t respect them enough for them to play along with your delusional demands.@patrizia @obfusk

@fuxoft @patrizia @obfusk fuxoft:A decent person starts by treating anyone respectfully, dropping it only if the person demonstrates that they don't deserve it. You must be aware that trans people are being attacked -- both literally and legally -- in many places in the world. What on earth caused you to react in such a hostile manner to that post?

@fuxoft @obfusk b) the word "respect" has more than one meaning, and this is a very common use of the word.

@patrizia @obfusk a) My wife is LGBT and does not share your view.b) Would you be OK with the statement "White developers deserve more respect?" If so, then everything is OK, forget I said anything ever.c) Because of b) above which seemed pretty exclusionary to me. Unfortunately I cannot exactly quote what @obfusk originally wrote because his post is no longer available.

@unicorndeburgh @patrizia @obfusk In South Africa, white farmers are being attacked - both literally and legally. Should that be a specific reason why I should treat all white people respectfully?I guess we disagree about the definition of "respectfully". If I meet an unknown person, I certainly don't start treating them respectfully until I know them rather well.

@fuxoft @obfusk I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt as it looks like you aren't a native English speaker, so I thought you might not know that meaning of the word respect. However, you've since made it quite clear that you're just spoiling for a fight, so I'm not going to engage with you any more.

@patrizia @obfusk It almost looks like you don't respect the people that don't agree with all your views...
