I like it a quite a lot actually. It even moves the same way as Emacs with the C-b and C-e bindings for example. The only thing that it really not as good it the git integration, because it's not completely mouse free as with Magit.

@djrmarques VSCode is great, I love how everything just works. But I can't use it. I get frustrated not being able to easily code my own editor functions. I have a gradually growing file of Emacs functions that I have added over the years, and as time goes on it gets more and more frustrating trying to do without my personal editing functions.

@djrmarques When I break stuff in Emacs and I'm really under pressure, sometimes I revert to VS Code, too. But usually just until I have time to fix my Emacs. It doesn't take long until I get reminded that Microsoft is literally using my code to train their AI and extract telemetry whereever they can. Don't forget that you pay a price for using VS Code, even when it is not monetary. @ramin_hal9001

@louis @ramin_hal9001 yeah sooner or later I will go back to Emacs for sure, but I have to admit it's a bit liberating to use something that just works 🤣

@louis @djrmarques @ramin_hal9001 I really like the test explorer and debugging for Python in VS Code. However it never felt as much at home as Emacs does.

@louis @ramin_hal9001 @djrmarques My solution for broken #emacs is twofold:1. For emacs itself, since I compile #emacs from master once a week, I always keep the last version that did not have any problem. I build from git in ~/local/src/emacs and run this version; but make install in /usr/local/ if the current version has not had any issue.2. For my config: every change is committed into a git repo, so I can always get back to a previous stable version.I have been using this workflow for years now without any major frustration. And I really depend on #emacs since it is my window manager, mail reader, word processor, organizer, agenda, chat client, file manager, etc.I hope this helps!

@djrmarques I still use Magit most of the time or a macOS native app called "Fork" @ramin_hal9001
