       A new project called "10 Million Names" is seeking to identify & name every person of African descent who was enslaved within the present day borders of the U.S.  between the arrival of the first colonists in the 1500s and the end of the Civil War in 1865. It's spearheaded by the New England Historic Genealogical Society and American Ancestors.
