Nearly 111,000 Massachusetts residents moved out of the state between April 1, 2020 and July 1, 2022, according to a new report from the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. That's the highest level of out-migration the state has seen in 30 years, the report says. @gbhnews I should add here that @gbhnews has been doing a whole series on the housing crisis in Massachusetts. It’s called “Priced Out” (and it just won a regional Edward R Murrow award). You can find it here: https://www.wgbh.org/news/pricedout

Got a notification this morning that Mass. DPH turned off the MassNotify COVID-19 exposure notifications on my phone. Here’s my @gbhnews story on other changes with the emergency declaration ending. https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news/2023/05/11/the-covid-emergency-is-expiring-in-massachusetts-what-happens-now

Boston has launched a program to incentivize developers to convert empty office buildings into residential properties, hoping to help alleviate the housing crisis while breathing new life into the city's downtown. I spoke about the program on @gbhnews “All Things Considered” with Arthur Jemison, director of the Boston Planning and Development Agency https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news/2023/07/21/boston-has-launched-a-pilot-program-to-convert-unused-office-space-into-housing

A new project called "10 Million Names" is seeking to identify & name every person of African descent who was enslaved within the present day borders of the U.S. between the arrival of the first colonists in the 1500s and the end of the Civil War in 1865. It's spearheaded by the New England Historic Genealogical Society and American Ancestors. I spoke with the program's chief historian, Dr. Kendra Tara Field of Tufts University on @gbhnews All Things Considered. https://www.wgbh.org/news/2023-08-18/project-seeks-to-name-the-10-million-people-enslaved-before-the-civil-war

Saturday is the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, and all these years later, you can still taste a close approximation of what teas were thrown into the harbor that night. Here's my @gbhnews story: https://www.wgbh.org/news/local/2023-12-15/you-can-still-sip-the-types-of-tea-tossed-overboard-in-the-boston-tea-party
