So, I'm just trying to move my stuff to a new phone, which means exporting all the settings for a lot of apps, so I can import them on the new phone.Needless to say, tje experience varies. #Antennapod asks me for a place and a filename, defaulting to /disk/Backups (whence I imported the settings from, some years ago).#Fedilab, on the other hand, produces a silent (thus easy to overlook) notification that "settings were exported". Great! So now I will spend half an hour searching for them!

even cooler, I can tap on the notification and see the filenames, with a "Download" icon next to them ... thought they'd be on my phone already? Can't go up one directory to see where they landed. And if I leave the screen, I can't get back to it via the notification.@apps...is this really necessary? Can I please just pick a place? Is that too oldschool? You'd thing that saving and copying files should be easy-peasy these days...

@Mr_Teatime It's in your download directory, tap the notification and share that file in your cloud.

@apps Turns out the issue was with "Simple File Manager" which opened by default, and showed me the content of the zip file but did not let me navigate.Still, if you tab out, you have to generate a new notification. I'm happy to notice that quite a few apps allow me to directly specify where I'd like to have my backup, most using the same dialogue. Would be very welcome if Fedilab could do that too. No confusion that way.

@apps Really, though, my ideal way to migrate stuff would be if every app supported a "export your stuff" function that could be called, on a system level, with a given target, and then the same thing inverse on the new device (i.e. "import your stuff". That place could be a network drive, a folder on the SD card ... anything. As it stands, it seems to be either Google or Each. App. By. Hand. ... and after a few hours of that, I'm more easily irritated than I'd like to be...
