Now I'll spend an ungodly amount of time to configure my Ubnt Dream Router to perfection - hopefully there will be no outage for my person matrix-server :P

@thomholwerda Yeah I have an Edgerouter (actually 4), and like 4 accesspoints. My Meraki AP is expiring in a month and I want a replacement that can act as a base, so I can expand it in the future.

@selea That's pretty cool. I love the idea of serious networking hardware that's a bit more user-friendly. Great for nerds like me who aren't too much into networking.

@thomholwerda To be honest, I prefer something like pfsense/opnsense - they actually have real a real Firewall and are simple to manage aswell.

@selea Yeah I haven't spent any time investigating any of it yet, but my first choice would be to buy/build used servers and use open source tools, of course, if at all possible.

@selea One thing I hate about their switches is that either management is a pain (with RouterOS) or you have to do it via a webbrowser (SwitchOS) and it's still a pain in that sense.Already locked myself out twice in a week now because I screwed up VLAN settings (and the management doesn't work on MAC addresses like RouterOS).Their routers are great tho.The wifi is really behind.@thomholwerda
