@louis My first thought is good idea in theory but rarely in practice. It requires a person to define these terms and that is usually when things start to go wrong. Many have no idea how to make such a soceity work without it becoming some form of tyranny. Many more only want the benefits of such a soceity while they contribute little if anything. Anyone wanting such a soceity should ask themselves what they bring to the table because it would require immense cooperation and pooling of skills.

The term we're groping for here is #LibertarianSocialism.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_socialismSadly this term has been forgotten throughout the #Anglosphere, especially in the United States. #Libertarianism has become simply synonymous (in English) with #LibertarianCapitalism. Meanwhile #Communism has drifted to mean statist, even totalitarian statist, "socialism."Consider the possibility that 'statist socialism' is the oxymoron and stateless socialism is a tautology. It's a much clearer lens with which to view the past two hundred years of #history. @defanor @grim @louis @histodons

@jameshowell @defanor Obvisouly, I see this topic through a European lens. Interesting, the fact alone that the perception of what Socialism is, is so different depending from where you come from give a lot of matter to study.I'm increasingly sceptical about private property because it brings only one thing, suffering. I know a lot of people in Berlin who had to move out of their housing (they lived in for 20+ years) just because private equity firms purchase land and property for the sole reason to hike the price up to a levels which only the super rich can afford. It is a very sad development and it happens everywhere in the world.Yet, thinking about communism let's me shiver. I've a lot of bad associations around that term. I still believe that effort is worth something and that it should make a difference whether you are willing to advance yourself and " work your butt off for something" or leave the hard work to others.Obviously there is a lot to discover and learn about this.

@cthulhu Nomads and hunter gatherers had state: hungry, satisfied. Fit, exhausted. Sleepy, awake. Healthy, ill.We don't really know, but due to the fact that womans give birth and were needed to breast-feed, we can also assume that early gender roles emerged, like the man hunting, the wife caring. So assuming "classless" is a far cry, I'd say.
