This week I went over to Bluesky and asked people why they left Mastodon. Here's some remarkable responses I received:"Yes I understand the Mastodon question but why do you also need to know my social security number?""This account is just to post hourly hedgehog pictures. @lowqualityfacts I found the guy who responded to the survey by saying "Listen, stop following us and taking photos of my children or I'm calling the police" to be very typical among people who don't understand why it's important to have decentralized platforms like the fediverse.

@lowqualityfacts I came over to Mastodon because every other fucking social media site was bought and paid for, making a profit selling out my personal info, by putting a tracking tick up my ass and following me around everywhere I went on the WWW.It's not like I'm interesting or anything, I'm as plain as white bread and twice as boring. But who wants a tracking enema when they are trying to have a bit of fun posting cat videos?
