@dangillmor @kissane when a large group of people are arriving in another culture, clashes are natural. Being an actual immigrant to US myself, I had a mini deja vu. Like the first time, I chose to enjoy the warm welcomes rather than dwell on the off putting.Also, I am nice to newcomers. Ex twitter is both a nasty place and a home for large groups of people. It explains everything.

@dangillmorAs much as the #fediblock crowd likes to bray on about how they're helping make the fediverse more inclusive, in reality they're gatekeeping a network that they see as some sort of secret club. They want the network inclusive, but only for "the right people". That's not inclusive. You don't lift people up by putting others down. Period. @kissane

@r000t @dangillmor @kissane see, while there are people claiming fediblock is misused, I've yet to, upon investigating a use of the hashtag, identified one use that doesn't warrant defederation, either of the user of the hashtag, or of the instance or user they're reporting.

@ralliasMy single user instance is on the "tier zero" bare-minimum "you-must-block-these-or-risk-getting-blocked-yourself" lists with absolutely no hope of removal. My crime? My original sin? What started the ball rolling? I told someone that maybe harassing app developers for not adding hard-coded non-optional blocklists to their mobile app was maybe not a cool thing to do to someone. @ralliasMeanwhile, admins of instances that regularly issue fediblock notices have outright posted death threats to me and they still have wide network access. Pic related. Be careful when viewing. They are literally direct threats of violent physical harm. Still think #fediblock is a paragon of moderation? Think again. These are the people ordering you to block others. @dangillmor @kissane

@CatHatDoes this mean that those who have (quite conveniently) appointed themselves the network-wide moderators should be able to use the same tactics that nazis use? I sure hope not! See, I find abhorrent behavior to be abhorrent. I don't do an additional check to make sure it's "towards the right people", because that provides cover for antisocial bullies who simply found a way to get away with bullying. @rallias @dangillmor @kissane

@r000t @rallias @dangillmor @kissane it means exactly what i said. I am unaware of anything I don't approve of what was said in the those creenshots. But that isn't something i have an ability to do anything about. Some sort of cross server moderation is required at the individual level and it WILL happen organically if it isn't organized under a hashtag monitored by admins, or mastadon, and the fediverse as a whole will not function
