@tilvids @bigcar I was watching this vid and I wanted to give it an up arrow, but I learned I needed an account for that.I checked into creating an account and learned that it is a "process." Can you share why?Thank you.

@BobCollins @bigcar The software we use (PeerTube) requires you to have an account in order to engage with the content and other members of the community. I'm not sure the specific decisions that went into this, but it's how the software tracks if you have already up/down arrowed something, how you can comment on videos, etc.

@tilvids @bigcar So the result is that it is less smooth transversing the wider Fediverse than it is within the Mastodon portion of the Fediverse?Do I have this right, or am I missing something?TIA

@BobCollins I think I understand what you're asking now. You're wondering why you can't use your Mastodon account to up/down videos on PeerTube instances? If so, I believe that's trure. You can use your Mastodon account to follow channels on PeerTube instances, and those videos will show up in your Mastodon feed. You can comment on the videos, and the comment will show up under the video on PeerTube. However, liking videos, posting videos, etc. is (AFAIK) reserved to registered accounts.
