       As bad/annoying/stupid as all this is, it's just pushing me further and further from the commercial web.I can see a future where I have some flavor of chrome installed for use with anything commercial, and the rest of the time I surf a different kind of internet entirely.Honestly, I'm not that bothered by the separation of the two.

       The loudest complaints I've seen are from people who want to keep using the web from exclusively their big endian Loongson running NetBSD or whatever the closest is you can get to steampunk computing

       Imagine a world where there was a corp net and a civnet. A separate internet where all the standards and services were user-first, privacy-first, security-first. Where the same open source gods who prop up the current trashfire are free from big-tech's fuckwittery, free to build and standardise open protocols that are beneficial to the community.A fringe sort of a place where no respectable business would dream of operating a storefront. A place where compatibility with them is not a concern.
