The path forward is deleting the Web Environment Integrity repo and never talking about this again, generic web DRM is not something that should have ever been proposed, this is not making the web more private and safe it is a direct attack on the open web https://github.com/RupertBenWiser/Web-Environment-Integrity/issues/28#issuecomment-1651129388

@BrodieOnLinux I've heard it uses TPM 2.0 as the attestation method. For us using Arch linux... it's about time to set it up! :")

@BrodieOnLinuxIt's making the web more private, sure, but by sacrificing the open web itself. This will prevent any budding new browsers from having any ability to gain a foothold in space ever again, effectively making the pool for competition only as large as it is and no more, which allows them to keep a strong hold on that competition and prevent it from overtaking chrome and chromium. And having the DRM randomly report itself as unsupported won't work as a measure against this being DRM from the web - as unsupported browsers will inevitably be considered untrusted, just like rooted modern phones with stock ROMs that report themselves as unsupported for CTS profile matching are prevented from using apps like google pay.Google already neuters the implementation of widevine for Firefox - most current widevine DRM platforms refuse to run at full 1080p on Firefox. Thereby preventing Firefox from being able to compete on a level playing field. It's wrong on so many levels.

@BrodieOnLinux While we agree with the deletion of this repo, we believe that there needs to be a nice long talk about this technology and drilling it into everyone's minds hat shit like this is to NEVER be implemented again lest the end of the internet as we know it. And well, that wouldn't exactly be good ofc.-Astrid

@BrodieOnLinux all forms of DRM should be banned, as they provide nothing but harm to usersAny company who uses or creates DRM in any form should be forcibly bankrupted.
