       1/5 black people in Florida have been convicted of "a felony"-- (we should talk about how this alone is absurd.) At one time having a felony on your record would make you ineligible to vote.The people of Florida passed a law saying they felons who served their time could vote.Ron DeSantis decided if there were any unpaid fines, they could be *sent to prison* for voting. It's hard to find out if you have any unpaid fines. This is just Jim Crow all over again.

       Jim Crow laws didn't always say things like "Black people can't do X" They didn't always mention race explicitly-- you can easily craft racist laws without mentioning race.

       @futurebird I would say that for those crafting such laws, not mentioning race is the cherry on top. Gives them plausible deniability.
