i don't find that Norwegians tend to help each other with money when socialising, if one person has less.my friend in Trondheim (who works a full-time job) barely paid a cent to help with costs, despite knowing what my finances look like usually.you can be surrounded by people who have PLENTY of money to spare, but it's not acceptable to help a friend.somehow, it's more acceptable to buy an expensive apartment or a flat screen TV than to pay $50 to help a friend.he knows a girl who is on disability benefits. he kept inviting her to social events that cost too much money anyway, until she complained.but he did not pay for our restaurant meals. he wanted me to come. why didn't he pay? he knew my situation. money was kept tight.it's not a criticism of him. more of the mentality. it's rare that friends help with money.

Socialism is more acceptable when you have a homogenized society. Then it's actually worth investing back into your own people because they will bring value back into the economy. As opposed to investing in parasitic types.

@thor I think in the Nordic societies independence and self-sufficiency are valued a lot. People are always afraid of infringing on someone's status as an independent self-sufficient person, which could be perceived as offensive to someone. People are also afraid of making someone feel dependent, and also indebted, or feeling indebted themselves. I think there is very low tolerance to this in the Nordic societies.

@lusse i'm not fully equipped for independence and self-sufficiency. i never was. a society that accepts INTERdependence would work better for me.

@lusse i kind of get angry at this attitude that Scandinavians have because i'm not a good fit for that. i heavily DO need to help and to be helped.

@pyrate i doubt you'd change your views if i tried to explain, so i'm just going to leave it at that. that i'm feeling that you're wrong on too many levels, so it's not worth it to put in the effort - and you'd probably not change your mind anyway.long story short: i don't like your attitude.

@thor you do not like the attitude that I would practice in-group preference when it came to socialistic programs? Sorry.I do not mean this in any foul way, but Ive come to terms that there will be lesser, foreign or even antagonistic individuals who exploit our humanity.I know it is not very European of me, but a certain wariness Ive acquired with age has left me a less charitable person. I am working on myself to change this, at the very best, I want to be considerate and grounded. To emulate my Saviour.
