Between @downey and @aral and @doot and @nightjar getting issues with #fosstodon, is it too much to speculate that they're preparing to go along with #Threads moderation rules?Any other, similar experiences? Someone got banned for calling Rowling a TERF, me for calling a AfD-adjacent person a Nazi (that was years ago).I get the feeling their mod practices have been rubbish for a while, but the recent cluster of issues suggests something new. Can we collectively watch this?:boost_ok:

@jens @doot @downey @aral @nightjar Fairly sure I saw one of the Fosstodon admins actively refuse to have a meeting under NDA with Meta and post up a screenshot of the email they had from them, so any issues with moderation are likely to be unrelated..

@jens Does this reflect our policy? Yes, everybody is subject to the same CoC on Fosstodon, regardless of whether they're @downey, @aral, or someone you care less about. Remote accounts get less notice as Mastodon sends notifications via email and email addresses are not part of the information instances exchange.Aral's account was limited in January due to several reports of him personally attacking other individuals, including telling them to F off and calling them "pricks".

@jens Michael Downey's account was blocked last November. I don't know what the reason for that is because all of the information found in the multiple reports gets wiped with the rest of his data after the grace period expires (that grace period is defined by the Mastodon software and not something configured and determined by us). If anybody had reached out at the time, I'd have been happy to explain.@downey @aral

@jens Thought I was pretty clear that Mastodon sends out notifications via email. We don't have email addresses for remote accounts. No email address, no notification. This isn't something unique or special about Fosstodon. It's how Mastodon works as a whole. @downey @aral

@mike Other instance admins adopt a policy of first warning those accounts (such as via DM), etc.You do not need email for this.@downey @aral
