@thedaemon @textfiles None of which is what he just said, which is that it bans the mention of periods before sixth grade. It allows teaching sex-ed before 9th grade if done in an age-appropriate way. Which is how it's always been done.

@textfiles @thedaemon This news story may be based on an older version of the bill or may just be wrong, but the text of the bill straight from the FL gov't's website is: "when such instruction and course material contains instruction in human sexuality, a school shall: [...] Provide instruction and material that is appropriate for the grade and age of the student."

@textfiles my period arrived during a 7th grade history class. I’m grateful:• I had a mother who told me my body would be changing/how those changes may manifest.• I had a compassionate teacher who helped me to unobtrusively leave class. 3. I had a sweatshirt to tie around my waist.4. I lived 2 blocks away from school so I could get the supplies I needed/return to school. It’s a shame/an indictment of our society that this sort of information is unavailable to those who need it.

The less civilians know about their bodies, the more power the state has over them.It's an abuser dynamic, too. Taking away a person's knowledge of themself can make them dependent on the abuser.

She didn’t get paid enough to do the job, in general. This topic … I saw how much she did, with no help. 🫡We were all undervalued … but she was *invaluable,* as these thing go. 💜
