New post - on Neurodiversity and the PhD (or what I've been thinking about on my sabbatical) https://thesiswhisperer.com/2023/07/05/when-your-research-is-upsetting/

@thesiswhisperer Great blog post and really interesting work. A couple of things - the stigma is often linked to the medical model of disability and internalised ableism. Advocating for the social model is so important - I see this at the moment as I’m supporting a student who is being made to fit into an environment rather than being accommodated. And you might want to consider the difference between neurodiverse and neurodivergent - I found this helpful: https://neuroqueer.com/neurodiversity-terms-and-definitions/

@StephZihms yes to the social model of disability - I gave a nod to that, but not enough room to do it justice. That link is useful - thanks!
