Day three of sabbatical and I am now pretty sure the project I am planning has not been done. Actually, I'm a little shocked at how little research exists about ADHD and college students at any level, let alone PhD students. Likewise research about college students on the Autism spectrum. I was kind of hoping there would be a lot to draw on... I can see now this is a much bigger project than I thought. Gulp.

@EricaMcIntyre @mneme I'm actually shocked how little there is, given that there's a lot of work in K-12 and a decent amount with undergrads... I've reviewed a lot of paper abstracts (168) and so far only found 1 paper that mentions neurodiversity and PhD study, and then only tangentially (a couple of PhD students ended up in a broader study). Still a bit more searching to do - might be a few behind the digital sofa cushions!

@EricaMcIntyre @mneme hard agree on the changes needed - they would help everyone if done right. Thanks for that paper - added to the list. The other thing I'm noticing is heaps of literature on Autism, you'd think that was the only kind of neurodiversity to explore. So much work to do here - I'm thinking I need to try and get a research project up so I can involve some neurodiverse PhD students.

@chrisoffner3d @Ruth_Mottram @StephZihms it's interesting times for sure. My kid is studying data science, which is likely to become obsolete... we're having lots of chats about repositioning, but I wonder now if his (somewhat surprising) talent for people work, now in retail, but very translatable beyond that, might be the safer bet. It's wild. Still can't help reflecting that every 'labour saving' technology introduced in my some 52 years of life (with the possible exception of household appliances) has created more work, not less.

Just posted this on the bird site - what is the last straw people need to leave twitter completely? I found my limit. I'm leaving.For me, paying nazi, misogynistic 'influencers' is too far. I've long been passive on Twitter, but used it to distribute content. I can't do it anymore. The values conflict is too much. I'd love it if some academics took a stand with me. I'm going to delete my (50K+) follower account on the 13th of August. I'm staying for a month to do a count down and encourage others to #DeleteTwitter. I don't have a recommendation of where is best to go. Anywhere is better than Twitter and its ocean of hate. Appreciate a boost to build a bit of momentum for this protest attempt
