       @dick_turpin Because acid is nasty stuff. Seems this method is not so polluting. Cremation is pretty dirty. Did you read it or did you just want to express outrage?I don't care too much what happens to my body when I'm done with it, but would rather it had less impact for the sake of my kids.Is rotting in the ground or being incinerated more 'civilised'?

Effectively it has the same qualities, although it does leave the bones which still need grinding, so there is still an impact as the grinder needs to be powered."Rotting in the ground" is probably the best ecological solution, but given we don't have the land for building houses, burial sites are impossible these days.

       @dick_turpin That's what similar means :) It was not my favourite Neal Stephenson book anyway. Lots of people have written about uploading people after death. I don't see it happening any time soon.
