       It is so fucking frustrating to me how we never actually talk about the de facto hierarchy of rights we have in Canada.In theory, all civil rights are equal.In practice, rights for Christians come first, then everybody else, then queer people and kids.And we can't fix that if we don't actually say it.

       There is no legitimate justification for discrimination against LGBT kids in Canada.There is not a single person in Canada who has a legitimate interest in outing trans kids in schools, or not letting them use their preferred names or genders.If this wasn't a conflict between Christian extremists and LGBT children, no serious person would pretend this was a complicated issue.

       Cis kids have a right to use their correct names and pronouns in New Brunswick schools.The only reason that trans people cannot is sex-based discrimination against them.The purpose of that sex-based discrimination, to be carried out against literal children by the government agents with a legal duty to take care of them, is to facilitate the abuse of these kids by their religious extremists parents.

       And it is offensive and dishonest to pretend there is any legitimate "religious freedom" opposition to LGBT rights.I promise you, children being forced to hide themselves from their fundamentalist parents do not have "religious freedom".If they did, they wouldn't need to fucking hide.
