What about #CI on #Codeberg? We are providing access to our #WoodpeckerCI instance to those who need it, some caveats still apply. Also, you can read about the upcoming #ForgejoActions.Check out our docs to learn more about the state of CI on Codeberg: https://docs.codeberg.org/ci/

@Codeberg Forgejo Actions are new! What’s that? Smt equivalent to GitHub Actions, or it’s more of a Lambda-like Functions service?

@_bapt_ Currently, this is still a hard thing. If you can somehow emulate it inside linux containers / dockers, it will likely work. Adding other free software machines is possible in the future, but not on the roadmap for the near future.Buying licenses for non-free operating systems is not planned at the moment :)

@Codeberg damn! Really cool! How much similar is Forgejo Actions syntax to GitHub’s? I saw there are egen `github` variables available. Is it a drop-in replacement?

@joel We do not have much experience with it yet, because we are only investigating how to deploy it in a secure way at the moment. But it should be nearly a drop-in replacement. Expect small adjustments to have your workflows run, but you should not have to rewrite larger parts.

@comcloudway The linked docs are for v1.20 which is about to be released / deployed soon. There might be differences here and there.

@Codeberg Does this mean Codeberg is going to offer two CI systems? Woodpecker CI and Forgejo Actions?

@chaosmonkey Depends on whether we find someone to maintain the second solution. Woodpecker will definitely stay.

@Codeberg Forgejo/Gitea Actions are specific only to Forgejo and Gitea. Would you say that Woodpecker is still the way to go for truly platform agnostic CI?

@Codeberg what are the advantages of Actions over Woodpecker? and why adapt to GitHub's syntax, is it an industry standard?

@art4857 There are many good options. Many people would vote for Jenkins, for example. Woodpecker is also a good option.Better ask for more experiences, I cannot speak for the CI powerusers :)~f

@xinayder Projects moving from the proprietary ecosystem often have a hard job. All at once, they loose their forgejo, some features, integrations, CI, maybe translation services etc etc.In order to break vendor lock in and reduce friction to a minimum, having a near drop-in replacement is a good thing. If you want to start with a fresh project, consider twice :) - but in the end, you pick what seems to work best for your usecase or which syntax you prefer.

@Codebergİs it okay to use ci for building and deploying websites to pages.is it okay to use on unpopuler projects ci pipeline? Also is it okay to run small ci jobs daily to update metadata repo(like fetching some files and writing their hashes to repo)(Sory if sounded rude i am not a native nor a good speaker)
