A few hours back, @PurpCat@marsey.moe joked that someone should create an instance called "The Usual Suspects".Context is that Mastodon.art and other defederation/censor-happy servers use "Federates with the usual suspects" as the block reason when they can't find anything else — guilt by association.So I said if my post gets 30 boosts and 80 likes (or reacts), I'll create this instance. @malakai @PurpCat the mastodon side of fedi, naturallyACK!koma sucks because of the bugs though, a lot of the features that it boasted over regular pleroma are now in the development branch for it as far as i know

@lina@eientei.org @PurpCat@marsey.moe idk, I've used Akkoma for a while and didn't find it buggy. Really enjoyed the custom reacts and quote posts that stock Pleroma doesn't have. Pleroma chat didn't matter because it was a single user instance.I think I might disable Pleroma chat anyway, idk if it's worth the headache :kys_thonk:

@malakai @PurpCat custom reacts are part of what got merged with pleroma, quote posts are honestly useless, i've only ever seen ncd users use them and they're broken so they look like mental patients trying to reply to nothing

There's a few controversial changes to rebased that boil down merely to "it allows Soapbox to work better and do more". Replies are the most infamous difference but they basically emulate modern Twitter.

PleromaFE and Husky and clients show handles for replies as @username. Misskey shows them as @username@domain regardless. Soapbox will hide the @s at the beginning of the post like Twitter does.

When this feature rolled out, PleromaFE also did not properly render the replying to part IIRC so many instances on older versions like FSE had issues from what I recall.

Which is why Alex at least suspected it was due to his politics, because if it weren't for at least one Pleroma dev writing a page about how Alex is a bad person online you could chalk it up solely to Alex telling the world "I want it done my way". It's one of the main causes of the Akkoma fork except as time drifted on Akkoma has had even fewer things to distinguish itself other than "some users on the Mastodon side said it's okay".

Definitely a lot of (not all) the criticisms are because of his politics. I've read the comments/discussions between him and the Pleroma devs on Gitlab (before the fork) and most of their resistance to his changes were obviously because they hated his guts.

@bot@seal.cafe probably a Misskey thing. Never had an issue with Calckey unless I remove the mentions manually.In any case, not a fan of using Calckey for this one. No native mobile apps and the web app can be glitchy because it's under heavy development.
