       @checkervest There doesn't seem to be a general consensus on the difference between a Pond and a Lake, but the rationale I like the best is that ponds are all photic layer, meaning sunlight reaches all of its depths, whereas lakes have an aphotic layer where it's deep enough that sunlight doesn't penetrate to the bottom.But ultimately, whoever first looked at it and said, "that's a lake," is the only opinion that matters.#LakeFacts

       @wordsmith@writing.exchange @PostMasterGeneral@thesnakepostoffice.online @checkervest@laserdisc.party respectfully, i disagree with this definition.rather, lakes are big enough to hold boats. a pond, however, is a smaller body of water that really isn't big enough to have folks out on the water (not to say it doesn't happen; i've taken a kayak to all sorts of stupid places, but rarely was there another boat in there with me).of course this runs in to lakes/ponds that we just never want to put a boat in, so your definition in the style of "finder's keeper's" works just fine 💯💯
