2/ “The justices in a unanimous ruling written by conservative Justice Samuel Alito clarified a 1977 Supreme Court ruling called Trans World Airlines v. Hardison. The court said then that employers are not required to make accommodations if they would impose even a minimal or, using the Latin term preferred by the court, “de minimis,” burden.”

@GottaLaff Does anyone remember the MN taxi drivers who refused to transport people carrying alcohol as it violated their religion? While they lost in court, that was before this decision. The potential for mischief is unlimited - a pharmacist refusing to sell contraceptives or drugs made from stem cells. A nurse refusing to administer vaccines. A shopkeeper who refuses to sell alcohol. A lifeguard who can't look at women in bikinis. Not to mention the LGBTQ discrimination potential.https://www.voanews.com/a/a-13-2007-04-04-voa62/404177.html#:~:text=Somali%20Taxi%20Drivers%20in%20Minnesota%20in%20Dispute%20Over%20Passengers%20with%20Pets%2C%20Alcohol,-November%2001%2C%202009&text=Many%20Muslim%20taxi%20drivers%20are,it%20is%20for%20religious%20reasons.

@CarlG314 @GottaLaff I feel like there was a non religious path here. If there's more than five days in the work week for a business everybody gets one day they won't work. Like true PTO. No need to give a reason. Religious belief is a terrible standard for anything legal. Workers' rights more broadly seems less problematic. But I am not a lawyer so I'm probably missing something.
