       I've always had mixed feelings about affirmative action: an awareness of why we need such programs tempered with concerns that it isn't a constructive way to address structural racism by making race matter. But I have zero faith in this Court to navigate these difficult issues.

       @cathygellis California has had a ban on such for 20+ years now for the UC system.  It is AMAZING how the "diversity" committees find proxies for such things throughout the admission and/or faculty hiring process.

       @ncweaver @cathygellis To find proxies and do it anyway they have to care about it. A lot of institutions are not going to care about it and try to find workarounds. They were doing it because they felt obligated to do it.
