@thenewoil My issue is that the government is saying to do this to stop criminals from monitoring me and collecting data on me but the criminals who I worry about doing this is the government. Tough to take the advice of the people you distrust.

@thenewoil So, the malware is able to listen in the background but not able to start on boot? Doesn't sound very reasonable.

@thenewoil Or use @GrapheneOS's Auto Reboot setting: https://grapheneos.org/features#auto-reboot Also helps with locking/encrypting so that fingerprints can't be used to unlock without PIN.

@thenewoil not the first time I hear the advice to restart the phone regularly. Maybe it is a good habit to implement for privacy and security

@Winterstar This is actually pretty common. Most mobile malware is not persistent and will go away on reboot.

@thenewoil That's really surprising but makes sense given how long mobile devices run without reboot. Do you have a reference to such cases?

@Winterstar I'm having a hard time finding sources (every search result I get is about factory resets or some new malware) but I swear I've heard it from multiple reliable sources over the years.
