       @jeancf @richardvenusfo  @CamsJam @azitopian There are several (new?) lemmy instances with ~30k users each but only 1 to 4 posts; see https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy . There's human communication going on with admins, and a recommendation to enable captchas, email confirmation + limit registration rates [1].*Some* of the lemmy/kbin growth appears to be real :) - but a lot appears to be spam :( .Our self-organising system is self-correcting. :)[1] https://mstdn.social/@stux/110581809678313141@mastodonusercount

       @bitpickup https://github.com/gallizoltan/usercount says that it uses https://instances.social/instances.json - see crawler.py ; instances.json currently includes at least 3 lemmy instances:- friendica.mylemmy.us- bolha.us- kiai.lemmy.ninjawget -O i https://instances.social/instances.json; sed -e 's/{/\n{/g' i | sed -e "s/^\(.*\),.description.:.*\'/\1/" |grep -Ei "akkoma|pleroma|glitch|pixelfed" | wc -lgives 1013 very likely non-mastodon instances, about 6% of the list.@jeancf @richardvenusfo @CamsJam @azitopian @mastodonusercount
