       I’m just remembering the time FB killed a bunch of small media companies by pretending that its video engagement was through the roof.And the time they non-consensually experimented with only showing awful things to certain users to see if it would isolate and depress them (it did).And the time they hosted the livestream of a mass shooting hate crime.And the time they enabled a genocide.Or Cambridge Analytica. JFC remembering facts and events is not hard.

       @dznz I'm Ethiopian. Over here, they've contributed a very large role in the incitement of horrible massacres and hate crimes towards ethnic minorities across Ethiopia, most notably against Amhara, Tigray, and Oromo civilians. It's a terrible, terrible cancer that has rendered any chance for civil political discourse impossible.

       @amman that’s awful 😣 I’m so sorry that has happened to your country, one more way that the “western” countries have made things worse for Ethiopia.Their strategy of negotiating “free” access to FB/WhatsApp in vulnerable countries ensured their careless dominance of spaces they had no ability or interest in keeping safe.

       @dznz Not to downplay FB's responsibility for this, but every media executive who believed that lie (pivot to video) and burned down their institution should be shitlisted from the industry as well.It was so, so obviously false to anyone with an understanding of their own audience or with the one brain cell needed to know that you have to get that kind of data from an impartial party not from the conman trying to sell you on his plan.
