       @piggo nail polish might work short time, but it can flake off over time. at least that's my experience using it for stuff that's not nail (not electronics though either)

       @piggo the magic words iirc are "conformal coating" but (a) not exactly "waterproof" but should help some against humidity/corrosion and (b) not sure if it counts as "easily available" if you're needing something e.g. you could pick up locally

       @natevw the level of waterproof i need is probably about IP54. measuring soil moisture for irrigation, so like, rain or someone with a water hose can happen. It will most likely have some case on as well
