       interesting also that my psych told me that increasing the dose of methylphenidate over time is practically unheard of because people typically need LESS of it, not more, for it to keep working, i.e. it’s not a tolerance reaction if it stops being effectivewhich is interesting because from what i’ve heard some american psychiatrists will happily just prescribe more if the patient asks for it“sure, here’s your ticket to psychosis, have fun with the neuroleptics” ​:blobcatgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:​

       @mia Yeah I haven't had to up my dose for like over a decade now, there's no tolerance you build up in my experience and yet it's still being treated with the same precautions as opiates by regulators here. 😶

       @mia Methylphenidate has an extremely low half life so when properly used it tends to not build much tolerance. Its frequent use for children who lack a fully developed prefrontal cortex could explain dose reduction over time, assuming it actually works as a therapeutic aid while proper habits are developed.
