We accept that the public has little say in the affairs of a business outside of being a consumer and some trifling government regulations around safety. It occurs to me, that democratic society should be able to make any arbitrary demand of a business that it wants down to determining it's operating procedures or even demanding it produce a given product or recall a given product or be immediately nationalized. This is a hammer we should be comfortable wielding instead of polity boycotting and "voting with our wallets"

So when I hear: it's a business and it can do what it wants. I want to scream NO!. It exists at the mercy of the public, it exists to serve the public and can be liquidated at the whim of the public.
