The amount of old computer and electronics stuff that actually gets scrapped is depressing; Youtube often lists me 'Mike The Scavenger' videos - he's a scrapguy who goes around collecting metal (I think in Texas); often from dumpsters outside office buildings, and just sometimes he'll hit one full of computing and electronics; nice old PSUs and HP LCR kit and random computing:https://youtu.be/2bMH_dbevys?t=1140#retrocomputing

@penguin42 From ~2005-2008 the business that handled our region's e-waste stream would let anyone walk in and peruse the week's incoming every Saturday at 7:00 am. Buy enough, and they charged by the pile. A few people scraped an ebay living, I paid for a year of college.SGI workstations and exotic stuff was usually scooped up, but for a lot of what would be sought after today the stench of old hadn't worn off yet. "What's in that pallet?""Oh, just dumb terminals, don't bother."
