Managed databases are a pain in the ass sometimes.

@me Interesting - where do you feel the pain? AWS RDS for 99% of time causes me way less trouble compared to my old dbs on boxes.

@coldclimate vague postgres error messages. turned out even inside the VPC I needed to use SSL for postgres.

@me What isn't? Definition of a ideal job is "to do boring stuff". Otherwise, it wouldn't be a job, or play to little

@coldclimate @me to provide some additional context, I've moved over to a new instance hosted on the DigitalOcean Cloud mainly as I want all the content closer to me. Their Managed Database Product is nice but I had issues getting Pleroma and the Ecto library to play nice with my database. Not going to fight over permissions, if it wants an admin account and defaultdb for setup so be it as it has it's owned dedicated cluster to do whatever it wants with it. DigitalOcean can be more expensive in some regards but they don't microbill every little thing like AWS. You can get a degree in AWS Billing so I don't wanna accidentally give myself a $3000 cloud bill haha.
