       @slashdot Well, it's always important to look at the context, e.g. _who_ writes such recommendations. For an organization like the #NSA, it is often useful to be able to replace a proven piece of software with another one it has more control over. Since it's hard to convince anyone to allow this (never change a running system...), it's very tempting to just say: "We have to rewrite everything in #Rust for #SecurityReasons, neglecting all kinds of other safety considerations." While #Rust is definitely promising technology, it's good that someone stood up to debunk that "Writing in #Rust will magically make all your code safe" myth. Switching away from #CPlusPlus will not make your code any better. Learning about code safety will.
