       Wild that two sites I used so much (Twitter and Reddit) are kinda shooting themselves in the face (at least as far as nerds [read: my people] are concerned). I don’t know whether Masto or Bluesky “win” as a Twitter replacement, or whether federated reddit clones like Lemmy start to gather enough people to become the next “thing.” But this next year will be pretty interesting.Most likely Twitter and Reddit will largely stay as they are now, but the nerds will have left.

       @garretble Twitch also just shot itself in the foot, announcing new hardh rules, lots of top upload people leaving, u-turn, but people still leaving.

       Specifically Reddit on that last point.I have several friends who had no idea about this API change because they — FOR SOME INSANE REASON — just use the default homepage to browse. There’s obviously thousands (millions?) of people that do that too, and apps like Apollo disappearing will have no affect on them.Too, their favorite sub going dark for two days probably won’t have much of an affect, to be honest. And I don’t have any answers. I’m just throwing thoughts out into space here.

       @a_cubed I’m glad the article mentions GDQ. They were my first thought while reading the article that Twitch is limiting the ad space. I’m not a fan of Amazon, so if all the streamers find a better place I’m down for it.
