@elicin i think, to fediblock someone purely for something like gender, sexuality, race, etc. is unfair, because these aspects of people are not able to be changed, and are not harmful. if i were blocked purely for being non-binary, and/or if being nonbinary was a reason listed to block me, or any other person, then that would be unreasonable, and i'd likely feel hurt and unwelcome. and to add to this, if someone is to cause harm by use of derogatory language regarding someone's gender/sexuality/race, i and some others would also not wish to interact with those people. some people do not feel hurt by others using slurs, but some people are hurt by it. i made my fediblock post for those who do take offense to use of such language, and wish not to see it.

While I am in agreement with you in finding such things to be rather uncouth and trashy, at the end of the day that person has as much of a right to hold and articulate their opinion as a queer person does to freely express their sexual or gender identity. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression should be protected Human rights in equal measure. Regardless of whether you may have found someone’s opinion to have been unsavory, you can acknowledge it is as much of a right of theirs as it is your own.We should all be able to just sit down and engage in civil discourse on our differences in good faith irrespective of where we may fall on the cultural, political, or religious spectrum. Fighting intolerance with further intolerance only continues to extend the issue into perpetuity. Instead, we need to set clear boundaries and know not to overstep them forcing our beliefs onto other people. That applies not only to the LGBTQA+ but also to religious, political, and personal disputes.If you really want to make a difference in the world, then do so not by perpetuating the toxicity of shock and outrage culture but by cultivating a culture of tolerance where everyone can exist peacefully irrespective of their religious, cultural, or personal views. @coelacanthus A good place to check here, too, is your instance's remote custom emoji (in Mastodon it's under Administration). One of the telltale ones was searching for any remote instances federated with yours with a 'windmill' emoji (Nazi swastika).Great way for them to out themselves without them even ever directly interacting with your instance members.
