       Well now. It looks like Bluesky will have to deal with their Jack Dorsey issue sooner rather than later, after his recent history with promoting anti-vaccination crank RFK Jr. came to wider attention, because this isn’t just some harmless billionaire obsession, they’re literally killing people, bringing back diseases that were almost wiped out like measles.Bluesky members are not happy and some are calling for Dorsey to be thrown off the Bluesky board.

       I’m just going to block anyone trying to gaslight me about RFK Jr. I despise anti-vaxxers but people who enable and make excuses for them may be even worse.

       @rob11563 @TonyStark @Green_Footballs I read the RFK jr 2005 article in Salon regarding autism and vaccines, and he was so persuasive that I thought he was right. We now know he wasn’t, but he did permanent damage to the vaccination cause. He’s since doubled down on the issue, and it overshadows his “good” positions elsewhere. I don’t trust his judgement (or the judgement of social media moguls who promote him).

       @MattFerrel @rob11563 @TonyStark @Green_Footballs Per Wikipedia, he seems to be a strong environmentalist, very active in this area; represented the NAACP and has “argued that poor communities shoulder the disproportionate burden of environmental pollution”; supports indigenous rights; has fought factory farms; believes we should transition from fossil fuels; opposed the Iraq invasion. Surprisingly strong record—except for vaccines.

       @MattFerrel @rob11563 @TonyStark @Green_Footballs After the vaccine-autism argument, I tuned him out and basically ignored him. So I knew little about him. He’s remembered now as that anti-vax guy. He used his celebrity to intervene in an area he was not medically qualified to and did a lot of damage, and few people now remember his strong progressive work in other areas.

       @AFutureGhost @Green_Footballs @rob11563 @MattFerrel Not to be the contrarian here, but some of his “good” ideas are underpinned by conspiracy theories, particularly ones around nuclear energy and a really awful one regarding HIV/AIDS denial. I wouldn’t call any of that strong progressive work. He also has absolutely no relevant experience for president. There’s nothing good about what he’s doing in politics.
