7 months ago, twitter losing their execs responsible for trust and safety would have caused a massive influx of new signups. Over the past few days, they've lost two senior leaders in that area, and I think we've had less signups than on any random days. It's interesting how people adjust to the "new normal"

@jerry I guess, by now, anyone who would have moved already has.

@coderCyclist many, many (did I say many?) people migrated here and then went back.

@jerry@infosec.exchange @coderCyclist@infosec.exchange that makes me curious. How much approx difference is there between peak Twitter migration MAU and right now? Also, difference in hardware resources required between the two?

@malakai @coderCyclist for infosec.exchange, we topped out at right around 50,000 MAU. We’ve been drifting lower ever since, and how at just over 18,000. We have a bit more hardware now than we did then, in part because the people who are left are much more active and we’ve been the subject of many different types of ddos attacks that necessitate more HW that is really needed.

@jerry @malakai @coderCyclist I’m so sad people went back to The Awful Place. Let us hope that as they returned to Twitter, they will also return to Mastodon. 😊🤞

@jerry@infosec.exchange @coderCyclist@infosec.exchange oh, interesting that the higher per user activity requires bigger infra despite fewer users (makes a lot of sense when I think about it).I do remember the DDOS attacks, yes. Unfortunate that such things necessitate renting more hardware.Or maybe you just like seeing bigger numbers in Htop :pandadevil:
