       @TexasObserver Puberty blocking treatments were first developed, if I recall correctly, to help (cis) girls who start to enter puberty at a dangerously early age. It just puts the transition on hold and is completely reversible. I guess they will still permit that use, because Texas? But maybe that&#39;s an angle that can be used to attack the law in court.

       @TexasObserver @not2b @oconnell There&#39;s also the carve-out in many state laws that continue to allow genital surgery on intersex children - oftentimes infants who clearly cannot consent - with no medical necessity to intervene, simply parents deciding that they want their kid&#39;s genitals to &quot;look normal&quot;.

       @JessTheUnstill @TexasObserver @oconnell That&#39;s interesting: does anyone know of a state law that specifically does that? I&#39;m surprised that they even acknowledge the existence of intersex children. Once they grant that, then it seems that their claims that there are only men and women and no one can change fall apart. On the other hand, they don&#39;t need sense or logic if they have gerrymandered majorities and right wing judges, I suppose.

       @not2b @JessTheUnstill @TexasObserver @oconnell I don’t have the specific ones offhand at the moment, but several of these bills have had those exceptions for surgery in intersex infants specifically spelled out within the bill text itself. It’s gross.
