An immutable all-Snap Ubuntu planned for 2024 :ubuntu: Well then - Ubuntu Linux will be ousting something unique - apart from what some might say "thousands of other Linux distros are offering" :thinkhappy: Where to use an immutable Ubuntu? -- Academic use cases, large enterprises and such are where an immutable desktop thrives.Better security, reliability (read-only file system), transactional updates & a very important factor: EASY ROLLBACK of changes if problems occur on updating.Did you know? SteamOS partly utilizes the immutable approach already.=> https://ubuntu.com/blog/ubuntu-core-an-immutable-linux-desktop#Ubuntu #Core #immutable #Linux #Canonical #IoT #desktop @ubuntu

@Linux I'm tempted to give #Fedora #Silverblue a try but I've heard mixed things when using it as a daily driver.

@Linux @ubuntuI'm using immutable debian ( #mxlinux ) for years. Without snap. Just live system with persistent home and upgrade via in-place iso remastering.

@Linux @ubuntu Contrary to popular opinion, immutable distros may have better integrity but they are not more secure. Generally attackers do not leave trails on the hard disk but only in memory and if anything immutable distros increase the exposure of exploitable binaries. If attackers do wish to be persistent then the locations that rootkits could hide are increased and complicated by immutable systems.
