Much is being made of the effectiveness of "fog cannons" in preventing crime. This is a temporary band-aid, not a solution. Solving the root cause is still necessary, because as sure as eggs is eggs the simple low-tech countermeasure to fog cannons is going to come out (I won't give anyone ideas here) and there will be hell to pay.

@vik The businesses making the most noise requesting these fog cannon subsides from the government are dairies who make a huge amount of money selling addictive lethal toxins and the worst of unhealthy food and drinks. They can pay for their own security or face levies for the downstream affects of the products they sell.

@zl2tod They also sell non-toxic stuff to people in food deserts.

@zl2tod> dairies... make a huge amount of money selling addictive lethal toxins and the worst of unhealthy food and drinksHaving known a couple of dairy owners, I can confirm they struggle to break even. Even with the convenience tax they put on the products they sell, they struggle to cover wages and rent (or maintenance if they happen to own the building). If they couldn't sell nicotine and caffeine, most of them would be out of business in weeks. Sad but true.@vik
