I am planning to replace (with a new part, they're available even after all these decades for $16 [LGTM!] shipped for an "OEM" part, vs. $120 plus shipping for the "official" part) the (I believe) failed water valve on my 70s era classic dishwasher that hasn't worked for a couple of years. Will this:

@lauren Thoughts and prayers, bro. It took ages, but I finally found the basket for our dishwasher which works perfectly but had one of the baskets badly rusted and missing tines.

@randulo I hate working on pressurized systems. I have to fight my tendency to over-tighten connections and so causing leaks.

You really don' t need to worry much about the last choice unless I decide to recalibrate the dishwasher's matter/antimatter intermix ratio. And I'm pretty good at that. OK, not perfect. Occasional temporal cracking. But nothing extremely noticeable. Well, rarely.

@lauren limited number of things to go wrong- timer motor, plastic fingers in timer motor, heating element, float switch, water solenoid, drain pump motor, space time continuum. Elementary, really

@Vmarks And I have the service manual (though the illustrations suck). Also, found relevant YT videos, including one that appears directly on point even though it's for a model MANY years more recent (apparently the intake valve design has changed hardly at all over the years). But I do hate working on pressured systems.

@lauren @Vmarks you should have about 60-80 psi on the supply side. Not too bad. Should be a compression fitting on the water inlet?

@lauren Those gamma rays must make for a really effective "sterilize/sanitize" cycle.

@cazabon I prefer neutrino fields for that.
