@jerry 's recent #kitchen #sink #project reminded me of something I've long wondered about.#Bathtubs have #overflow #drains.#Bathroom #sinks mostly seem to have overflow drains.I don't think I've ever seen a kitchen sink with an overflow drain, and I've overflowed a couple in my life as a result.Anyone #know if there's a practical #reason kitchen sinks don't have 'em? It's 2.8% in this:https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-shareIt's practically a rounding error. #Chrome is generally all people test with (or perhaps other #Blink-based browsers like #Brave, #Opera, #Vivaldi, etc) and so lots of #developers end up creating #sites that work in Chrome (because of lax security policies, or using nonstandard features) that break in #Firefox.#Firefox is my main, but I keep Vivaldi around for these types of things.

Registration gets you some benefits, like today.Additional, with explicit renewal: 14 years.Then public domain.If, after 14 years, the owner of the copyright can't be bothered to renew it, then it drops into the public domain at that point. It clearly had no commercial value left, or the ownership has been lost and no one would be able to license it anyway.

Right now, it's as if every 1920s radio manufacturer that ever was had their own different, proprietary, and incompatible A, B, and C batteries, and we still had to live with that, buying batteries only from the manufacturer of the device.This is perfectly feasible. We have #cylindrical cell standards, now we just have to define them for #prismatic #pouch cells. Make battery #sellers #compete on #quality and #price.

@Lorry No one is #forced to use Twitter, or any other #social #media, to get Canadian news.Canadians can go to the #websites of the National Post, Globe and Mail, CBC, Global TV, CTV, or a bunch of other places for roundups of Canadian news. Edmontonians could easily find out about this from the sites of their local paper or TV stations.The fact that people find it easier to use American tech companies' sites to find Canadian news is an indictment of our news orgs, not the tech companies.

The fact that only the big U.S. tech companies have effective news #aggregation that attracts Canadian #eyeballs is an extremely strong indicator that Canadian news orgs have failed in this respect.Hence, an indictment of Canadian news orgs, not U.S. tech companies.Why the hell haven't the Canadian orgs I listed #cooperated to launch a Canadian #news aggregation site? We received our new #Green #Bin this week, for the City of #Regina's new #municipal #composting program. Hey, only 20 years behind the small town my parents lived in back then, not too bad.Also with the bin, you get a plastic bucket with a tight-fitting lid and a handle, to use in your house for #kitchen #waste, so you can "save up" scraps and not have to run out to the bin after every meal prep etc.So far, not so bad.[...]#CityOfRegina #SK #saskatchewan #recycling #compost

You have to completely rotate it, doesn't look the same from any other angle.Spin 2? Half a turn will do it.Spin 1/2? If you turn it around once, it doesn't look the same. @lauren @Nazani It's also more than just Google regarding not using #smartphones.I run into a disturbing, and ever-growing, number of web-based #services that simply cannot be accessed without a #smartphone - they want a phone number rather than an #email address to register, they want to #SMS you a PIN (ugh, SS7) to create an account or log in or pretty much anything else.I choose not to have a #mobile phone - but I'm starting to see even #government/#public services that require one.
