First long ride of the season, and yikes it took a lot out of me. Wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the strong headwind for most of the way back, which made the gentle slope into a not-so-gentle one. Ended up having to walk my bike up some of the hill at the St. Joseph end of the parkway. Also sucks that the parkway wasn't closed to cars like it's supposed to be. No clue why, the sign for NCC Parkway Days was up.#Ottawa #cycling #BikeOttawa

@Nezchan Cycling into wind is the worst. And Strava doesn’t give you credit for it!

One thing I really noticed with all the climbing and fighting a headwind was just how much work my arms do in that situation. Which didn't help my shoulder, which I've been having range of motion issues with since autumn. Fortunately that didn't really become an issue until I was fairly near home and not fighting the wind any more, but it's interesting all the same.

@shacker I see it as increasing the angle of the slope by a bit, or a lot if it's a heavy wind. So that 70m elevation gain could probably be stated as 90m at least, when it comes to effort.

@Nezchan Exactly. Also, I love the saying “Hills make you strong. Wind makes you mean.”
