colonizers invaded most of the world... by force. They succeeded in MOST places for varying amounts of time, ...let's vaguely call it: several generations. That means they got to make the rules for those times, amplify their cultural values, and erase ones they didn't like, over the course of several generations...In other words: abusive men got to establish "countries" and make the rules for several generations. Is it any wonder the world is fucked up?

Obviously, many of the colonizers were brainwashed into thinking their cultures (blessed by their male gods) were good ones. And many -were -fleeing unjust conditions brought about by... other abusive men...but the fact remains that pretty much all the world's powerful nationstates got that way based -pretty primarily- on acts of violence. To think that the folks revered by those cultures, and MOST brainwashed by them would make truly "good" leaders is understandable (if you've also been brainwashed to believe your cultural values have been good), but...is it smart??MANY values based on "Might Makes Right" mindsets still infect our many of our cultural values. We also have a legacy of Renaissance thinking that helped us build fantastic technologies. Maybe it's time to stop oppressing* social scientists and let them work in the same ways.* yes oppressing: if you think academics are truly free to pursue certain *facts* around social organization ...you're still brainwashed.
