thinking about the niche #orogene fits into, in a world with stuff like bun/deno/etc, and honestly I think the right thing to optimize for isn't node apps, but webdev that happens to use node tooling?I feel like that space has been kinda stagnant for a while. NPM/pnpm/yarn are all kinda basically the same thing, and the few experiments that have happened have kinda flopped straight on their face (like uhhh... PnP/Berry).

@zkat this makes a lot of sense to me, I use node for tailwind and I’d love to be able to run tailwind without npm

I do honestly kinda think node as a backend development platform is on the way out, and largely uninteresting (and a HUGE pain because of the failed modules deployment), but the truth is there's a lot of miscellaneous devtools that still use it as a runtime, and the NPM ecosystem isn't something we should give up any time soon, if ever. But frontend stuff? There's still so much room for growth there that's not limited by how lacking Node itself is!

@b0rk @zkat I don't use npm and I'd love to try a tool like tailwind. Do you have a link to the source code ? Do you think they rely heavily on npm or just happen to use it as their package manager ? I haven't been able to find a link to the repos in their showcase.
