I'm trying to imagine myself, 20 years old, in the military, and being told that we're going to war with Russia.I wouldn't want it, but my mindset at 20 was to n do what I was told and even if I don't support it, it's what our officials, who were elected by the people, want.I don't think I broke that mindset until I was in my late 20s to early 30s.Being in the military is a form of brainwashing. Seriously, the goal of basic training is to break you down and build you back up into a member of a team. It's not even subtle.Just drunk thinking, pondering. If the soldiers today were ever told to point their guns inwards, "all enemies, foreign and domestic..""domestic"How many wouldn't personally agree, but would still do so willingly?

@MaleGoddess A very large portion of the US military (at least the Army) is nonWhite. That portion wouldn't think twice about gunning down some "domestic terrorists " if they were White people.

@Kang_Kong2 @MaleGoddess You know, looking at the guy in the foreground, I think from his facial expression and very unusual arms posture that he got injured by one of those troops.Not sure why everyone says “at gunpoint” when we can be sure those rifles weren’t loaded, when the naked bayonets are in some cases inches from the backs of some students … one accident in walking by either could have resulted in a severe, very possibly fatal injury.So anyway we don’t see any blood, that would be a PR mistake, but being struck by some part of the sturdy M1 Garand rifle?

@MaleGoddess @Kang_Kong2 Kent State was a response to rioting that included burning down the ROTC building etc. The unFederalized National Guard response was because of that.Look up the concept of arming orders; for nowadays, add to that commander’s preferences to prevent career ending negligent discharges in peacetime (ask for more details). And protocols for escalation in dealing with riots, like the variations in bayonet use.Note I’m not saying the paratroopers, Federal regulars, didn’t have ammo and very possibly on their persons (but not lots because we don’t see them having the usual ten clip bandoleers, that’s eighty rounds), just that it would have been beyond insane to have their rifles loaded prior to real need. Note also they were instigating the violence that might have required further escalation to more lethal force.
