@Rasterman Heh. Fortunately those states are full of "fresh" niggers. But we don't have to appease them, we can just shoot them, which per the article will save them from getting vivisected by the wildlife authorities....

@mangeurdenuage So you're a big fan of US deindustrialization, offshoring, and making the US tolerable only for the highest profit enterprises like FAANG (those largely because no one does software and systems better than the US) and stuff than can only be done locally?Because that along with lots of "financial engineering" like keeping profits offshore were inevitable consequence of corporate tax rates that were the highest in the world. Not just the developed world, but all the world. No doubt you didn't (or if non-eligible (but when does that stop the Left?) wouldn't have) voted for Trump and the GOP in 2020 because they started to address all of the above??

When is a stay in court proceeding not a stay? When Trump, or likely anyone else on the Right is in a show trial (here a judge not born in the US who's a "hanging judge" for J6 protesters (BTW, it's now that High Holy Day) and eventually a D.C. jury):"Trump Wants Jack Smith Held in Contempt of Court in DC Criminal Case"'All substantive proceedings in this Court are halted. Despite this clarity, the prosecutors began violating the Stay almost immediately.'"For the wrong people, the Rule of Law is dead.https://legalinsurrection.com/2024/01/trump-wants-jack-smith-held-in-contempt-of-court-in-dc-criminal-case/

Mutual Assured Destruction is a thing:Mid-December (((Bill Ackman))) calls out (((the MIT Corporation chair))), equivalent to Harvard's (((Penny Pritzker))), and his extremely woke wife for tax fraud that in theory could cost MIT its tax exempt status.Ackman and company succeed in removing Claudine Gay from the top academic job in the US. if not the world.Ackman is Shocked to find DEI is not good for the Jews and publishes a four thousand word manifesto.Business Insider (BI) publishes in typical hit job style plagiarism claims about his (((Israeli wife's))) MIT Ph.D. thesis, which may or may not be serious issues, and more.(After a skim it's something I'd expect from the architecture department, math I doubt most of us understand, computers, 3D printing, a rejection of modernism in favor of nature, some beautiful or attractive/interesting as well as ugly stuff etc. in three hundred pages. Not axiomatic bullshit like Gay's DEI.)Yeah, the Left doesn't think twice about going after people's families. WELL:"This experience has inspired me to save all news organizations from the trouble of doing plagiarism reviews. "We will begin with a review of the work of all current @MIT faculty members, (((President Kornbluth,))) other officers of the Corporation, and its board members for plagiarism. And at a @codybrown's suggestion, "We will review the work of the reporters and staff at BI for completeness."https://nitter.net/BillAckman/status/1743445041362649342#mhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Gorenberghttps://twitter.com/BillAckman/status/1742441534627184760https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-ackman-wife-neri-oxman-mit-dissertation-plagiarism-2024-1https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neri_Oxmanhttps://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/59192https://nitter.net/BillAckman/status/1743407502312505795#m

@Moon "[(((Ackman)))] should have seen this coming"Maybe, or he could say it bolsters his claim of just now discovering wokeness. His wife though claimed in four paragraphs she'd acknowledged the source at the end of each, as well as in the 398 item bibliography, just missed putting quotes around the specific material. If you've ever edited a very long document for a long period of time you know this is credible.Assuming she's telling the truth that's more typos than plagiarism due to giving credit right there. I'm not getting into the weeds of any of these academic slapfights, but here it's at minimum obvious she made a mistake so I'm not sure blanket denying it would help.Gay/Harvard didn't blanket deny, just claimed it was minor without getting into specifics.Though Ackman is acting guilty-ish about the later? claims of Wikipedia plagiarism, see link below.Although that could get interesting, you've got to go back to the state of an article in 2009 or earlier. If the BI claims match today's Wikipedia text or the history was tampered with. which we know is partly built into the system to erase genuine copyright infringement etc., it's a citogenesis sort of style setup I wouldn't put past this crew including Wikipedia.https://twitter.com/BillAckman/status/1743466850560720914

@cjd "Even if they managed to strip [Bill Ackman's] wife's academic credentials"She's out of that game; became an MIT professor, got tenure, quit 2020-21 (when I note MIT went batshit crazy about COVID) to become a wife, a (better?) mother, first child 2019, and work in the private sector. Which works for architects (it's in her blood, is the daughter of a couple, one has her own and somewhat overlapping in fields Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivka_Oxman) who have a proven record of making real artifacts, for example in her thesis there's some attractive "carpel tunnel syndrome" wrist braces. All she needs is a credible story, and we're talking about Business Insider here, of incorrect and/or blown out of proportion persecution and she'll retain enough clients and partners unless this dives into crimethink. And to add to your points, her husband is worth four billion, she could with a bit more than his pocket change continue to do and publish cool stuff, and there's a software business prospect in there to boot.To emphasize the "crazy irrational jihadi" aspect of a short seller like Ackman, if you borrow your shares on margin, if the stock goes up you have to put in more money.... He no doubt fights the maxim "the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."Shorting academia :cirnoThink: I'm not sure how you can make his normal sort of money on it, but there's lot of people who'll sign up for a crusade :cirnoheh: against US higher education. And his wife knows the domain, her parents are/were professors, and getting tenure at MIT is very much not trivial, got to be the first or second in your field as judged by for example the visiting comittee for a department, be an adequate teacher etc. Based on my skim of her Ph.D. thesis she ... well, sounds like she invented her field. Per Wikipedia she named it.

"Bill Roggio @billroggio"I am not sure what is more disturbing: @SecDef Austin was in the ICU you for 3 days and didn’t tell anyone, or that no one actually noticed that he was missing."He clearly isn’t in Biden’s inner circle."And links to https://www.yahoo.com/news/pentagon-took-3-days-inform-204027756.htmlfrom Politico and includes this gem:"In a Saturday statement ... Austin said, 'I could have done a better job ensuring the public was appropriately informed. I commit to doing better. But this is important to say: this was my medical procedure, and I take full responsibility for my decisions about disclosure.'"There's jests it was to cut his dick off.... Whatever it was, I'll note the complications putting him in the ICU for three days may have meant he wasn't actually able to inform anyone. But supposedly almost no one even knew he was getting surgery, including in the DoD.But Roggio's point holds, the White House, National Security Council, part of the White House staff etc., Israel where he was previously reported to be talking to its Defense Minister "every day," given all that's going on right now including "daily" attacks on US troops occupying Syria etc., maybe even Ukraine stuff ... that no one was regularly consulting Austin last week proves what's been obvious to all of us, he's a diversity hire figurehead, another of the Left's neglected pets.https://nitter.net/billroggio/status/1743776549470363696#m

Just listened to (((Mendelssohn's))) Symphony No. 2, Op. 52 "Hymn of Praise" which https://theclassicalstation.org/ played as part of its "Great" Sacred Music Sunday program, and ... no.While it's not the usual later Modern period Jewish "sacred" caterwauling, and it's not bad enough to make me play something else, it's not even good. While Mendelssohn did write at least one gem in his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, I think I now understand why fellow Romantic period Wager, who I'm not sure wrote anything (surviving) that wasn't "great," was so critical of him.

The lawsuit just filed over the murder of Ashli Babbit on the Left's High Holy Day of January 6th paints a rather different picture than you usually hear, even from the Right. While I'm sure, like Waco and Ruby Ridge, a bunch of people are unwilling to admit to themselves the Federal government would murder innocents with premeditation.Although this sounds like second degree murder, by a negro Capitol Police officer in way over his head, per the allegations the "incident officer" for the House that day. I read this as he panicked, the shot to the shoulder was probably so deadly because it was from an 160 degree angle, then in something new, and per The Epoch Times partly falsified by the Congressional show trial, we see mens rea in a radio transmission he made a minute afterwords. He's been promoted to a captain; shows how deep diversity runs in our ruling class, that such a loose cannon, pardon that usage, who previously got headlines for leaving his service pistol in a Capitol Building public lavatory. On the other hand sounds like this mostly clears him from the second part of a Rule Four violation, "Be sure of your target, and what's behind it."From https://www.judicialwatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Estate-of-Ashli-Babbitt-and-Arron-Babbitt-et-al.-v.-U.S.A.pdfParagraph breaks added to 14:The shooting occurred at the east entrance to the Speaker’s Lobby. After demonstrators filled the hallway outside the lobby, two individuals in the crowded, tightly packed hallway struck and dislodged the glass panels in the lobby doors and the right door sidelight.Lt. Byrd, who is a USCP commander and was the incident commander for the House on January 6, 2021, shot Ashli on sight as she raised herself up into the opening of the right door sidelight. Lt. Byrd later confessed that he shot Ashli before seeing her hands or assessing her intentions or even identifying her as female. Ashli was unarmed. Her hands were up in the air, empty, and in plain view of Lt. Byrd and other officers in the lobby.Ashli posed no threat to the safety of anyone. Not one member of Congress was in the lobby, which was guarded by multiple armed police officers. Additional armed police officers were in the hallway outside the lobby and/or on the adjoining stairway. Ashli could not have seen Lt. Byrd, who was positioned far to Ashli’s left and on the opposite side of the doors, near an opening to the Retiring Room, a distance of approximately 15 feet and an angle of approximately 160 degrees.Sgt. Timothy Lively, one of the armed officers guarding the lobby doors from the hallway, later told officials investigating the shooting, “I saw him . . . there was no way that woman would’ve seen that.” Lt. Byrd, who was not in uniform, did not identify himself as a police officer or otherwise make his presence known to Ashli. Lt. Byrd did not give Ashli any warnings or commands before shooting her dead.At 2:45 p.m., or within one minute after shooting Ashli, Lt. ByrdR 15. At 2:45 p.m., or within one minute after shooting Ashli, 0 Lt. Byrd made the following radio call:Rade the following radio call: 405B. We got shots fired in the lobby. We got shots shots fired in the lobby of the House chamber. Shots are being fired at us and we’re sh, uhh, prepared to fire back at them. We have guns drawn. Please don’t leave that end. Don’t leave that end.Approximately 35 seconds later, Lt. Byrd made another radio call, stating, “405B. We got an injured person. I believe that person was shot.” In fact, no shots were fired at Lt. Byrd or his fellow officers. The only shot fired was the single shot Lt. Byrd fired at Ashli. He heard the loud noise of the gunshot. He saw her fall backwards from the window frame. The facts speak truth. Ashli was ambushed when she was shot by Lt. Byrd. Multiple witnesses at the scene yelled, “you just murdered her.”

From the author of Private Truths, Public Lies. The Social Consequences of Preference Falsification which is supposed to be the book on the subject.Which I just noticed was published in 1997 by Harvard University Press :cirnoHeh: ! Paragraph breaks added:"Timur Kuran @timurkuran"Preference falsification has been central to the trajectory of DEI."People who abhor DEI principles and methods came to favor these publicly through a preference cascade. Every instance of preference falsification induced others to pretend they consider DEI just, efficient, beneficial to marginalized groups, etc. In time, a false consensus effectively displaced the search for truth as the university’s core mission, replacing it with DEI.Most professors watched in concealed horror the transfer of enormous powers from themselves to rapidly growing DEI bureaucracies. In countless contexts, they endorsed policies they considered harmful, participated in the defamation of scholars they admired, and sheepishly submitted to DEI training—all to be left alone, to avoid being called racist, to advance their careers.""But the resulting equilibrium was self-undermining. In emboldening DEI officials, it increased privately felt anger and resentment. The stage was set for a preference cascade in reverse. The shock that unleashed the ongoing cascade in reverse was the Hamas massacres of October 7. The chain of events that they triggered in the U.S.—anti-Jewish demonstrations, the Congressional hearings, the plagiarism revelations—brought to the surface outrage that had been building up quietly for years. As public criticism of DEI grew, and as it became clear that broad segments of the left share the outrage, the DEI-favoring false consensus disintegrated. The process is by no means over.As preference falsification on DEI continues to diminish, more scholars and administrators will find in themselves the courage to stand up for values that they truly believe in. Though the DEI complex will fight back, it won’t be easy to quash the honest discourse finally under way. Public critics of DEI know they aren’t alone."Someone noted he's on the organizing committee of the Association for Analytic Learning about Islam and Muslim Societies (AALIMS, evidently a pun on scholar) - Harvard Conference on the Political Economy of the Muslim World this April. Thus I note he both knows a lot about preference falsification and cascades, the latter starting the "Arab Spring," and is thus much more secure in his position at ultra-woke Duke to spread such crimething today. So we can only hope. And it's still just Leftists arguing among themselves, they've already "academically genocided" the Right out of all their institutions as another reply noted.https://nitter.net/timurkuran/status/1742439137372762427https://aalims.org/aalims-harvard-conference-on-the-political-economy-of-the-muslim-world-2024/

A useful observation from a Steve Sailer (Mr. HBD) blog comment by a "Twinkie" replying to "Jack D." who is a notorious Jewish commenter:"at least in the U.S., Asians score higher than whites in visuo-spatial reasoning and quantitative while lower than whites in verbal. Jews score higher in verbal, higher than other whites but lower than Asians in quantitative, and much lower on visuo-spatial."Jack. D: "Perhaps not a coincidence that spatial ability is rather underrepresented in so many tests (e.g. SAT)?""An intriguing suggestion! We do know, of course, that our society and economy increasingly favor and reward the verbalist rentier class, not people who can calculate, design, and make things. Hmmm, who’s in charge again? They wouldn’t be people who have high verbal ability, but low spatial ability, would they? Note, too, that visuo-spatial ability is generally a male trait while verbal is a female one. "https://www.unz.com/isteve/harvard-crimson-claudine-gay-to-resign/#comment-6352651

@idiot @kaia This version may be run by The Times of India but it's from memory American sourced, I read it elsewhere, and doesn't tell us anything we didn't either know, like how the CIA is so poor at tradecraft they or their agents are dying by the tens of people including a complete roll-up of the PRC set of them, or that the CIA is subsequently finding it impossible to rebuild.I mean, even if you hate Xi, the CCP etc. and maybe even fear they're screwing up the nation so badly they must be hindered or stopped, would you trust your life and your family's well being to such an outfit? One also wonders how little intelligence is being shared by other nations with the US, today unless it's about "right wing extremists" like Roman Catholics who have a beef with the Vatican (not just those who do the Latin Mass!!!).

@Need_More_Soma Boeing is an increasingly bad bet; it was only a couple of weeks ago loose bolts etc. were found in rudder-control linkage, and now these plugged up doors. You know the saying about seeing only one cockroach....NuBoeing, taken over by better at politics MacDonald Douglas executives, among many other disastrous things sold its Wichita, Kansas works to a (((private equity firm))) in 2005. Where famed bombers like the B-29 and B-52 were made, one thing it does is assembly of major 737 MAX components for Boeing. Not that long ago a financial disaster developed from misaligned and wrong size holes in 737 MAX fuselages causing a serious slowdown, and is of course another sign things are very wrong with the whole production system. There's a whole bunch of things to a properly working one which if followed makes aerospace products much more reliable than cars etc. where many failures aren't immediately or necessarily going to be fatal. Of course that requires high quality, motivated workers ... well, maybe Spirit AeroSystems isn't quite as DEI fanatical as Boeing.

@mr64bit @tk Heh, but a lack of "AI" computational power is likely to be a short lived thing unless the PRC invades Taiwan. It mostly comes down to TSMC only having so much capacity for these huge dies Nvidia etc. have it fabricate.Although there are other issues with advanced packaging and special memory which is made part of some of these packages, Nvida for example just fronted SK Hynix a lot of money for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Bandwidth_MemoryThat also depends on how much of a bubble we're in and its path. Right now for example there's a lot of "AI" startups competing for the same a bit too finite resources, Google is in theory stirring itself into action etc. etc. And of course the EU wants to take a crowbar to the Microsoft-"Open"AI" alliance.May you live in interesting times, where you can trick a car dealership's chatbot which uses ChatGPT into doing some serious math for you for free :cirno_heh:
