James Horner's score for "Krull" (1983), is one of his best, and it echoes through various of his other scores years later.

I'll add that despite being accurately described as rather derivative of other films, I have a soft spot for Krull and always enjoy watching it.

@lauren The spider animation in that film was absolutely the best stop motion I have ever seen. But wow you had better like watching horses. A lot. 😁

@lauren it's in my personal top 10. It's a wonderful movie. I enjoyed it immensely as a kid, and I'll watch it many, many times.

@laurenDefinitely in "comfort movie" territory for me. Tropy, but fun.

@laurenYeah, there's a part of it that sounds practically identical to his score for "Wrath of Khan".

@lauren I'm pretty sure that Krull is the kind of movie where the filmmakers knew exactly what kind of movie they were making, and didn't try to be anything else. I love movies like that.

@lauren Though it was kind of weird having a bouncy heroic theme playing over the opening credits as THE BAD GUY'S SHIP flew up to the planet. 😛

@dfrancis I don't think that's quite fair. The "bouncy" part was the planet overview, but when the mountain ship appeared the score turned immediately dark.
